Preżenza: Insib post kwiet biex ngħaddi ftit ħin qalbi ma’ qalb il-Mulej. Għal ftit mumenti nipprova nirrilassa u ninħall mill-inkwiet tiegħi. Bil-mod il-mod inwarrab id-distrazzjonijiet – kemm madwari kif ukoll ġewwa fija – biex ninfetaħ għall-imħabba u l-grazzja bla qies ta’ Alla.

Nitlob il-grazzja li nixtieq nirċievi. Nista’ nitlob li nafda fil-pjanijiet akbar minn tiegħi li għandu Alla għalija – mhux ir-rieda tiegħi imma r-rieda ta’ Alla fija u għalija (jew grazzja oħra).

1Imbagħad fit-tielet jum sar tieġ f’Kana tal-Galilija, u omm Ġesù kienet hemm. 2Ġesù kien mistieden għat-tieġ hu wkoll flimkien mad-dixxipli tiegħu. 3Billi ma kienx fadal iżjed inbid, omm Ġesù qaltlu: “Ma għandhomx inbid.” 4U Ġesù qalilha: “X’hemm bejni u bejnek, mara? Is-siegħa tiegħi għadha ma waslitx.” 5Omm Ġesù qalet lill-qaddejja: “Agħmlu kulma jgħidilkom hu.” 6Issa kien hemm sitt ġarar tal-ħaġar, imqiegħda hemm għar-rit tal-purifikazzjoni tal-Lhud, kull waħda minnhom tasa’ xi mitt jew mija u għoxrin litru. 7Ġesù qal lill-qaddejja: “Imlew il-ġarar bl-ilma.” U dawk imlewhom sax-xifer. 8Imbagħad qalilhom: “Issa ħudu minnu u newluh lil dak li qiegħed jieħu ħsieb il-mejda.” U huma marru jagħtuhulu. 9Hu daq l-ilma mibdul fi nbid; u billi ma kienx jaf mnejn ġie, għalkemm il-qaddejja li ħadu mill-ilma kienu jafu, sejjaħ lill-għarus 10u qallu: “Kulħadd l-inbid it-tajjeb iservi l-ewwel; meta mbagħad ikun ħadhom iġibu dak li jkun inqas tajjeb. Imma int l-inbid it-tajjeb erfajtu sa issa.” 11Dan li għamel Ġesù f’Kana tal-Galilija kien l-ewwel wieħed fost is-sinjali tiegħu. Bih wera l-glorja tiegħu u d-dixxipli tiegħu emmnu fih.

Punti għar-Riflessjoni:

  • Bl-użu tal-immaġinazzjoni tiegħi, nipprova nivviżwalizza x-xena u n-nies kollha involuti – Forsi ninsab qrib ta’ Marija… jew ma’ Ġesù… jew ħdejn dak li qiegħed jieħu ħsieb il-mejda…
  • Kif inħossni meta nara r-reazzjoni għas-sitwazzjoni ta’ kull wieħed minnhom? – fiduċjuż/a li Ġesù se jgħin; imħasseb/a; ansjuż/a; mħawwad/a…
  • F’mument deċiżiv, Marija ma qabadiex paniku u lanqas ma ppruvat issolvi l-problema waħedha. Hija marret għand Ġesù b’fiduċja fl-għajnuna Tiegħu – xi stedina jista’ jkollu Alla għalija illum biex nafda fih?
  • Ġesù jgħid lil Marija, “Is-siegħa tiegħi għadha ma waslitx,” iżda jaġixxi xorta waħda. Il-ħin ta’ Alla kif jaffettwa r-relazzjoni tiegħi miegħu meta dan ma jaqbilx mal-ħin tiegħi?
  • Niftakar f’mumenti f’ħajti fejn smajt minn Marija: “Agħmlu kull ma jgħidilkom hu.” X’ġara? Hemm xi ħaġa li nbidlet dakinhar li issa qiegħed ninduna biha?
  • Marija hi mara li tosserva u żżomm kalma; hija ndunat u interċediet: Nirrifletti fuq it-talenti u d-doni tiegħi… kif qed nużahom? Hemm xi wħud minnhom li mewwitt?
  • Nixtarr f’qalbi. Hemm oqsma f’ħajti li huma vojta u għandhom bżonn jimtlew? Nitlob l-għajnuna tal-Mulej, b’fiduċja fl-imħabba bla kundizzjoni għalija.

Konverżazzjoni: Nieħu ftit mumenti biex ngħożż dak li messni l-aktar matul dan il-ħin ta’ talb u nitkellem dwaru mal-Mulej, jew nista’ npoġġi dak li qed naħseb u nħoss f’talba spontanja lilu.

Xhud: Sant Injazju ta’ Loyola

St Ignatius’ whole life was an exploration of love of God and how best to respond to that love.

Born in1491 in the Basque region of Spain, St. Ignatius of Loyola led a life of ambition and military service before undergoing a radical spiritual conversion. Ignatius’ life changed drastically after a cannonball injury during battle forced him into a long period of convalescence. Bored and restless as he recovered at the family castle, he asked for books about romance and chivalry to occupy his time. Instead, he received the only books available: the lives of the saints and the life of Christ. Reading and re-reading these books lead him to dedicate his life to God.

Key Moments in His Journey

  • After his conversion, he spent a year in solitude and prayer at Manresa, where he developed the foundation for his Spiritual Exercises.
  • He later studied theology in Paris, gathering a group of followers who would become the Jesuits, a religious order committed to education, missionary work, and spiritual formation.
  • In 1540, Pope Paul III formally recognized the Society of Jesus, which became instrumental in spreading the Catholic faith worldwide.
  • St. Ignatius’ teachings emphasized contemplation in action, guiding believers to seek God in everyday life.

His legacy continues today, particularly through Ignatian spirituality, which encourages prayer, discernment, and complete surrender to God’s will – principles beautifully expressed in the Suscipe prayer.

The “Suscipe prayer” is a profound act of surrender to God’s will. St. Ignatius, emphasizes discernment and selfless love, as principles at the heart of this prayer.

It is a prayer that encapsulates trust, humility, and devotion, inviting the faithful to offer their entire being to the service of the Divine.

The “Suscipe” Prayer

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding, and my entire will,
all that I have and possess.

You have given all to me.
To You, O Lord, I return it.

All is Yours; dispose of it wholly according to Your will.
Give me only Your love and Your grace, for this is enough for me.
